5/19/10 It Seems Like Old Times

What's the best thing about moving to Florida? Why, coming home, of course!

Snowbirds, Charlie and Linda Kester were "Back Home Again In Indiana" Saturday night.  Charlie sat in on piano at the Atlanta Music Hall, something he hadn't done in 14 years.  The music was just as sweet as it was back then, maybe even more so.

Ask him what he's up to in Florida these days and he'll tell you he plays music and golf, although, more than likely not at the same time.  I don't know how his golf swing is, but he hit some pretty impressive licks on the piano.

The band started out with a tune that was the standard opening song when Charlie played with the Atlanta Music Hall Band full-time: Sweet Georgia Brown.  From there, the program was chocked full of lively songs that Charlie himself chorded up for the band years ago.

Charlie did the band proud with Ain't Misbehavin', Deed I Do, S'Wonderful - and we threw one in for him too: Back Home Again In Indiana.  Second half was even better, starting with In the Mood, and right down to the very last song, Kansas City.

If you weren't there, you missed a great show.  I'm guessing we might be able to persuade Charlie to come back for a repeat performance, hopefully sooner rather than later.
