Midsummer night's show, July 10

A nearly full house greeted the band as Blondie and the boys took the stage to perform their evening show on a hot and muggy July night.  Within a few minutes, the remaining empty seats were filled by more patrons coming through the door after the down beat.  The crowd was treated to more than two hours' worth of classic standards by notable composers such as Gershwin, Ellington, Carmichael, Cole Porter, and Johnny Mercer.  Basin Street Blues added a touch of New Orleans, and the band even ventured into the 60s' with a number originally recorded by Herman's Hermits, There's A Kind Of A Hush.

In addition to his excellent musical renditions, Jim had the crowd in stitches with his jokes and stories, especially the one about the man trying to get a job.  (Dee-dee-dee-etc...)

We were especially pleased to have some more first-time visitors, seems to be a regular weekly occurence.  If everyone were to come back on the same Saturday night, we'd have to play in Conseco Fieldhouse to have enough space.

Jeff was celebrating his birthday on Saturday night, number...well, it's the same as the WWII Bombers.  We also tried to celebrate Joanna Butler's birthday, wife of Michael, but she insisted that her birthday was in January.  Next January if she says her birthday is in July, we'll know something's up.  Michael's number one fan was present, sitting on the front row and seemingly enjoying the show immensely.  Of course that would be his granddaughter Brooklyn.

A lively and enthusiastic crowd helped to inspire the band and everyone left in high spirits, looking forward to next week's performance.

"Our Song"

Thank you so very much for helping us to celebrate our 56th Anniversary on July 3rd by playing "our song". It was done beautifully and we really appreciate your initiating it to your repertoire. We look forward to listening to you each Saturday night and having "toe-tapping" evenings. You have such a talented group!!! Jim and Betty Vrooman, Noblesville, IN.
