Our History

In February of 1987, Gerald and Roberta Terry founded the Atlanta Music Hall. Over the next twenty-two years, the music hall evolved to include twice-a-month jam sessions open to anyone who could play an instrument, and a Saturday evening show with a set group of musicians. Roberta affectionately refers to the music hall as an extension of their living room.

The Atlanta Music Hall Band consists of six musicians and two vocalists: Michael Butler on bass guitar, Greg Duncan or Hope Newby on piano, John Newby on saxophones and clarinet, Steve Newby on lead guitar, Jeff Phillips on drums and Gerald Terry on banjo. Vocalists include Jim Brewer and Hope Newby.

The genre runs from 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s standards to big band, jazz and some contemporary.
